Flash Video Converter is created for converting web video for PC, DVD players, PSP, iPod, mobile phones and so on. The program allows to convert Flash (swf), GVI, FLV into the following video formats: MPEG, AVI (DivX, XviD, H264, etc), GVI, RM, WMV, QT etc.
Pros: Flash video converter converts usual web video formats flv, swf, gvi and wmv into other video versions to make these videos suitable for devices that we use everyday. That can range from the household DVD player to iPod and other media players, gaming devices such as PSP or even a handheld phone. This requires that the web video formats be converted to 3GP, M4V, AVI, DVD, SVCD, WMV, MOV, QT etc. The following computer formats are supported; DVD-Video, VOB, AVI(DivX, XviD, H.264), MPEG, WMV, GVI, RM, QT, FLV, MOV, YouTube & Google Video etc.
The user interface is quite nice. Uses a lot of self explanatory icons, set some parameters and the conversion can get done automatically. The application uses a whole range of codecs for the purposes of conversion.
Cons: The test of these kinds of programs is the quality of the converted clips and if they have any artifacts created by this software or the codecs involved. This particular application supports a wide array of possible conversions and it is not possible to test all of them. Without that kind of thorough trying out it is difficult to give out a top rating, one needs to be a little conservative.
Due to the color scheme used in the interface sometimes the labels are difficult to read on the screen.
Overall a fairly easy to use application that has a large array of format support, it is without doubt a 4 star software package.
